Implementation

ENG 3U is in the process of change.  Many of the assignments have been altered and many new activities and approached included to help meet the changing needs of our students.  Such changes include

  • increased use of media texts and technologies
  • more research opportunities using students' preferred resources
  • writing activities which encourage students to connect with texts in a more meaningful and constructive manner
  • altered approaches to group activities to ensure meaningful dialogue and enhanced learning opportunities
  • teacher-student consultation and design of assessment and evaluation activities.
  • summative activites which offer students choice in order to allow them to best demonstrate their acquired and transformed knowledge and skills.

Timelines

This year  I have focused on several units to begin implementing new approached to learning.   They include the Introductory Unit (Development of the English Language),  the Anglo-Saxon studies unit, the Elizabethan unit (Macbeth), and the Culminating Activity.

Gradually,  after careful observation and assessment of their successes,  I will revise and implement more changes in future semesters to meet the needs of our students both within the classroom and beyond, and instill in them a love of learning which will  follow them throughout their lives.
